In order to vote in an upcoming election, residents must register to vote 30 days prior to each election (January 20 or 27, respectively). Precincts are open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on all Election Days.
Voters can choose to vote in either primary, but cannot vote in both.

Please be aware that some polling locations have been combined for the February 20 and 27 Primaries. View your polling location if you are unsure of where to vote.
Qualified voters may vote absentee either in person or by mail.
If you wish to vote in person, you may visit our St. George Voter Registration office located at 201 Johnston Street, St. George, SC. Hours are Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Upon arrival, you will complete an application and cast your ballot. Please note, photo ID is required to vote at the absentee polling place.
If you wish to receive a ballot by mail, please follow these instructions:
- Request an application either online at scvotes.org or by calling the Dorchester County Voter Registration office at 843-832-0132 or 843-563-0132. You may also email your request to email@example.com or fax it to 843-832-0186. If you request an application online, you must be able to print it out or save it for printing later. The deadline for requesting an application to be mailed to you is below.
- Sign the application you either received online or by mail. Return the application as soon as possible no later than 2:00 p.m. 4 days prior to each election (see exact dates below).
- Receive your absentee ballot in the mail.
- Vote the ballot following ballot instructions and return it to our Voter Registration office by 7:00 p.m. Election Day.

Deadline to return absentee application: 2:00 p.m. February 16, 2016
Deadline to return voted absentee ballot: 7:00 p.m. February 20, 2016 (Election Day)
