NOTICE OF ELECTION STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA – COUNTY OF DORCHESTER The Republican and Democratic parties will hold Primaries for the U.S. House of Representatives District 1 Special Election on Tuesday, March 19, 2013.  Any necessary runoffs will be held on Tuesday, April 2.  Any person wishing to vote in the primaries and runoffs must register no later than Saturday, February 16. These primaries will be held under new rules for providing Photo ID at the polling place.  Voters will be asked to provide one of the following Photo IDs: S.C. Driver’s License ID Card issued by S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles S.C. Voter Registration Card with Photo Federal Military ID U.S. Passport If you have one of these IDs, you are ready to vote.  Voters should remember to bring one of these IDs with them to the polling place.  Voters without Photo ID can get one free of charge from the Department of Motor Vehicles or their county voter registration office.  Voters who encounter an obstacle to getting a Photo ID should bring their paper voter registration card without a photo with them to their polling place.  These voters can then sign an affidavit swearing to their identity and to their reason for not obtaining an ID and vote a provisional ballot.  This ballot will count unless the county election commission has grounds to believe the affidavit is false.  For more information on Photo ID, visit scVOTES.org or contact your county election commission. STATE SENATE DISTRICT 41 STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA – COUNTY OF DORCHESTER Notice is hereby given that the Board of Elections and Voter Registration of Dorchester County will hold a Special Primary on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 to fill (1) one State Senate Seat in District 41: Term of Office to expire on December 31, 2016. The last day that persons may register to be eligible to vote in this election is August 18, 2012. If submitting a registration by mail application or fax, it must be post marked no later than August 18, 2012. The polls will open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the polling places fixed by law in this county. Registered voters who cannot vote in person may be eligible to vote by absentee ballot. Absentee ballots may be obtained from the Board of Elections and Voter Registration of Dorchester County. You may call 832-0132 or send an email to vote@dorchestercounty.net to inquire about the availability of absentee ballots. NOTICE OF ELECTIONS The Republican and Democratic political parties will hold primary elections on Tuesday, June 12, 2012.  Required runoffs will be held Tuesday, June 26.  Any person wishing to register to vote in the primary and runoff elections must do so no later than Saturday, May 12. At 1:00 p.m. on Election Day the County Election Commission will begin its examination of the absentee ballot return envelopes at the county council conference room at 201 Johnston Street, St. George, SC 29477.  On Thursday, June 14, at 10:00 a.m., the County Board of Canvassers will hold a hearing to determine the validity of all provisional ballots cast in this election.  This hearing will be held at the council chambers at 201 Johnston Street, St. George, SC 29477 .
